Location: Room 200-107, Lane History Corner

Join students and alumni from Stanford's Master of Liberal Arts program in a free staged reading of Macbeth, one of the plays to be considered in Prof. Larry Friedlander's summer seminar, MLA 275,  Shakespeare in Performance. We'll meet at 10:30 a.m. for snacks and introductions; the reading will begin at 11 a.m. and last until about 6 p.m. (with breaks). We will read the entire uncut play ourselves, rotating parts before each act so everyone gets a chance to read. No acting experience or familiarity with Shakespeare is required. Some extra copies of Macbeth will be available to borrow; any edition of the text is fine.  Our facilitator is Clifford Schwartz, a retired Berkeley City College instructor who leads a popular monthly reading of Shakespeare's plays in the East Bay.
