8 THESIS FILMS Screening of eight thesis films by Second Year Students in the MFA Program in Documentary Film and Video. Q&A with filmmakers and reception will follow. NOT IN SCREENING ORDER: The Life of a Language (Working Title) by Paul Donatelli One Native American family struggles to save their native language from dying amidst the obstacles, both historical and modern, they face in their everyday lives. Urban Fresh (Working Title) by Duygu Eruçman Can kale chips replace Cheetos? In this small garden in East Oakland, a group of teenagers struggle to grow their own vegetables, and think about the food they eat in a different way. Everybody's Business (Working Title) by Laura Green The small, tight-knit community of Vashon Island has become a reluctant poster child for the growing debate around childhood vaccinations. This portrait of an island community digs beneath the surface to investigate the tensions between individual choices and collective responsibilities.  Bug People (Working Title) by Paul Meyers In this playful essay film, the filmmaker explores our culture's apparent discomfort with all things many-legged. Track by Track (Working Title) by Anna Moot-Levin A young sketch artist with autism journeys from the world of his imagination into adulthood. The Words in the Margins (Working Title) by Sara Mott 31 year-old Axel is learning to read for the first time with the help of his friend and tutor, Steve, a Kenyan immigrant. Distrikt by Tijana Petrović A District in Bosnia is shadowed by predicaments. Role Play (Working Title) by Adam J. Smith Three immigrant actors grapple with established stereotypes in the Hollywood film industry.
