Order in the Desert: Law Abiding Behavior at Burning Man Prof. Manuel GómezJSD’ 07, Associate Professor FIU College of Law Professor Gómez will discuss his research conducted at Burning Man, a massive weeklong event that takes place in the Nevada Desert, which, when compared to similar events, shows one of the lowest crime rates, and high-level lawabiding behavior. This presentation will explain the factors that promote law-mindedness and voluntary cooperation at Burning Man infurtherance of social order, contributing to the broader discussion on the relationship between legitimacy, voluntary cooperation and law abidingbehavior in general.
