Spicmacay Stanford presents an Indian Classical Flute concert by Maestros Shashank Subramanyam (flute), Patri Satish Kumar (mridangam) and Mysore Srikanth (violin). FREE ADMISSION FOR ALL A Grammy nominated exponent of the Bamboo Flute, Vidwan Shashank Subramanyam stormed into the music world at the age of six in 1984. He was the youngest musician to have been invited by The Music Academy, Chennai to perform the senior most slot of The Music Academy, (often performed by legends of Indian Classical Music), at the age of 12. Trained by father Subramanyam and vocal maestros R.K. Srikantan and Palghat K.V. Narayanaswami, he is presently considered one of the best Bamboo Flute artists and is hailed so by the Indian and international media alike. Shashank is one of the youngest recipient of the “A Top” ranking in the All India Radio and TV. A recipient of the “Kalaimamani” from the Tamil Nadu Govt, “Kuzhal Arasar” from the prestigious Kellogg School of Management, North Western University, Chicago, and the prestigious Grammy Nomination in 2009, Shashank has over 60 CDs and several DVDs to his credit. Vidwan Patri Satish Kumar is a much-sought after mridangam artist from India. Trained by Gurus Sree Ramachandramurthy, V.A.Swami and V. Narasimhan, Satish Kumar is considered one of the top mridangam players due to his precise fingering technique. Vidwan Mysore K. Srikanth is a senior disciple of Vidwan Shri. H.K. Narasimha Murthy of Mysore. He has readily assimilated the depths and nuances of the art by accompanying stalwarts in the Carnatic music field, and he is regarded as one of the top violinists in the country.
