In our final session this quarter, Garry Tan, Partner at Y Combinator, will brief us on the state of affairs at Y Combinator with a focus on its strategic role in the venture ecosystem. With barriers to launching a startup lower than ever, new pressures have evolved which are influencing startups and their globalization trends.  Traction and ideas are critical, and returns are extreme power law distributed. Garry Tan is a Partner at Y Combinator.  Previously, he was Co-Founder at Posterous and also co-founded the financial analysis platform at Palantir Technologies.  Earlier in his career, he was a Program Manager at Microsoft for Windows Mobile.  He graduated from Stanford University in Computer Systems Engineering in 2003.
