It’s fair to say that the partnership between the St. Lawrence String Quartet and Osvaldo Golijov has been among the deepest of collaborations and friendships for both. An early champion of Golijov’s music, the quartet earned two Grammy nominations for its 2002 recording of his Yiddishbbuk, which they reprised for us with gusto last season. Golijov’s new work, commissioned by Stanford Lively Arts, will be paired with a major work by Schubert, one of Golijov’s favorite composers.
