Eclectic Houses of Lower San Juan Neighborhood Sunday, April 22, 2012, 1 to 4 p.m. Join us for rare glimpses into the history and architecture of Old Campus residential areas. This year’s tour includes five pre–World War II houses featured in the society’s new publication, Historic Houses VI: Lower San Juan Neighborhood, Continued. The book, available for advance purchase and on the day of the tour, focuses on 26 houses in the lower portion of the San Juan neighborhood. Architects represented on this year’s tour include Birge Clark, Henry C. Collins, Theodore W. Lenzen, and Charles K. Sumner. Proceeds from the tour support the Stanford Historical Society’s Historic Houses Project, which won a 2007 Governor’s Historic Preservation Award. Advance tickets $25 (book and ticket $40); checks must be received by April 6. After April 6 and on tour day: ticket $30; book $25. Advance tickets will be mailed. Pick up books on the day of the tour at tour registration desk near Parking Structure 6, 560 Wilbur Way; free parking available there in A and C spaces. There will be a shuttle stop near the registration desk.
